Project Summary: After a quarter century, Jacob Javits Convention Center completed a major renovation in 2010s, replacing the entire curtain wall, glass roof, mechanical units, and roof waterproofing and insulation to comply with new energy codes. The space framing near entrances was modified and reconfigured for new exits. Interior spiral stairs were installed to connect existing catwalks. Externally,
aluminum gantries were installed to clean curtain wall and glass roof. The existing space frame was examined through modeling analysis to accommodate the new green roof loads and construction loads during the replacement of roof mechanical units. Underutilized west pavilions and connections were also renovated to new features. All renovation work was done in phases while keeping the Javits Center operational. A splendid Javits center was reborn once again after this major renovation and transformation.
