Project Summary: Located in a dense residential area of Elmhurst New York, the Jain Center is a 4-story steel structure with a partial basement on a 7500 square feet lot. The center is a community facility for Jain religious and social events. Floor system is steel supported lightweight concrete on composite metal deck. Floors are stepped back through the height. Steel angle and framing support heavy stone cladding of the Shikhara above the main alter, which are symbols of the Jain temple. A giant crystal sculpture from India weight 2 tons is located in the conservatory on the fourth floor. The building received an award of Excellence in Design from the Queens Chamber of Commerce.
