Project Summary: A new 180-ft cable-stayed pedestrian bridge connects Rockefeller University’s south campus to the resident hall off-campus across 63rd street. The V-shaped steel tower supports the Y-shaped bridge with a utility pathway. The connection was long desired by staffs of the university. It starts from the renovated Peggy Rockefeller Plaza in front of the RRB research building and crosses the interior mezzanine bridge in the Weiss building. The project received 2001 NYACE Engineering Excellence Diamond Award and other awards in architecture and construction.
